After litigating patents for almost 10 years at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Jamal started his own firm to provide business counseling and litigation services to small and midcap companies. After several years of doing so, Jamal's practice has evolved to primarily focus on outside GC services, while his partners perform speciality services, like M&A, securities, finance, employment, commercial litigation, real estate and intellectual property. For high stakes cases and clients, Jamal also handles complex commercial real estate matters and IP matters, including patent infringement, trade secret and/or trademark litigation. Jamal is currently an outside GC to several clients accross the country, including clients in Denver, Chicago, Austin, and Detroit. Jamal's been named a Superlawyer, Top 40 under 40 by Crain's Chicago, Top 100 Black Lawyer, and several other awards. He's a proud alum of the University of Michigan Law School and Morehouse College.
